Creampuffs Tie the Knot
"I feel like Erin [our photographer] didn't have the right filter on the camera," I said to Katr yesterday as we browsed through our newly-arrived wedding albums over a glass of eggnog.
"The filter where we each only have one chin and weigh 100 pounds less?" replied Katr.
"That's right. The filter where I don't look like a plump fuschia sausage."
Ah well. We may have LOOKED like a couple of well-dressed sumo wrestlers with fantastic hair, but we FELT like queens. Queens!! We had amazing family and friends come from near and far to perform, participate in and celebrate our Gay Wedding Cabaret and Topiary Festival and we are still awed by the love! And by the outfits. And by how extremely good-looking all our friends and family are.
For all you hard core gay wedding fans out there, Katr will be posting our vows, the ceremony, the program, the vendors, and, most importantly, the thank-yous, on her gay wedding blog (we're still updating - check back for a link!) Photographistas Lex, Melle and Sherry have already posted their photos and we'll be adding ours soon on Flickr. If you have some to share, be sure to tag them with "topiaryfest07" on Flickr so that we can find them.
I now present a random selection of photos from the big day.
The venue - cabaret ready!
"Fucking awesome cake, man." "Thanks, Dad."
The wedding party ("A lady reveals nothing!" "Yeah . . . we're not ladies." )
Creampuff brides (I'm the plump fuschia sausage on the left)
Katr's fabulous hair!
My fabulous parents!
Lesbians! (for some reason, 85% of the lesbians in attendance at our wedding are in this photo. FYI - Misu, the lovely young lady in the pink strapless number is gorgeous, yes, but I believe she is straight. So hands off, you queers!)
Finger guns!
You can't see my hands here, but you can tell by my face that I'm totally doing finger guns.
Opening number
Our first dance (an audience participation line dance to Barrett's Privateers choreographed by Sam Booker)
An excellent example of appropriate gay wedding attire
Ditto
Dancing!
Drinking!
Dirty dancing!
Taking it all in
Ass!
Okay - that's about all my little blogging software can handle. Next - more ass! Or maybe the honeymoon!

Lady, you both look (a) mad hot, and (b) absolutely delighted. I fire my finger guns into the air in continued celebration for you both!

Yours has to be the funnest, coolest, hippest wedding I've ever seen! And what beautiful brides! Congratulations!

Omg, do y'all travel? Would you come to my (potential) gay wedding?
It looks like you both (all) had a wonderful time - finger guns, funky cake and kilts... uhm. Perfect.

Congratulations!!!!
Beautiful wedding photos!
I sooo need a teacup hat! That completely rocks. I'd never take it off.
Bonus kudos for all the dudes in kilts - Dad especially. Had the whole 'Sean Connery' thing goin' on!

I didn't see that 'Braveheart' pic of Padu before. Thank god I poked him on Facebook!

That is the single coolest wedding cake I have ever seen. If I ever manage to sucker some woman into sticking herself with me for life, I'm totally coming to you for wedding tips.

i have seen the face of roro!!!! finally!!!!!!!! i feel like i just spotted a unicorn or something. (what i'm saying is, it's nice when a blogger i really really like finally shows me the goods.) oh right: AND YOUR WEDDING LOOKS AWESOME! as i just told joolie, i have a categorical ban on attending weddings, but yours looks pretty effing fabulous.

Oh my goodness - you had the best wedding EVER! I'm going to have words with my soon to be wedded friends - I fear their event may pale in comparison. In fact, I think I might even scrap my vague principles about getting hitched if I could have an event like that! And is that creme brulee hat KNITTED? Wowee! You and Katr look stunning, btw - so so happy - glowing. x

Wow. Up until this very moment, my future big gay wedding was based entirely around a single invitation gag...from now on, its sole purpose is so that I too can have a cake that trips people out. Oh. And love. I have to say that, don't I?

Right upfront, I'm gonna tell you that I hate weddings, and when possible, will find some excuse to not go to one. Yours, however, is the most fabulous wedding I've ever seen, and the only wedding where I looked at the pictures and was sad that I wasn't there. It looked like everyone had a great time. You guys did an amazing job planning everything.

What a rockin' wedding that was. The best, by far, that we have ever been too! I attempted to blog about it 3 or 4 times, but been struck dumb. Unable to find strong enough words for things like - brilliant, fun, beautiful, honest, playful, joyous, gorgeous, delightful, touching, real, smooth and involving. It was the best event of the year, best wedding ever and if I were ever to get married, I'd want it to be just like this! Except barefoot.

Oh, and Jenn has a set of photos up too - http://www.flickr.com/photos/heyjenb/sets/72157603226597240/

1. Thanks Lex! I forgot to let Roro know about my Flickr photos.
2. Fuscia sausage my ASS - I couldn't stop talking about how beautiful you both looked all night.
3. Dapo and I ended up with the ENTIRE top of the cake - the green with swirls part AND the small topiary at the top. We have been eating it since the wedding. Holy mother of god. That's some good cake.
4. Thanks for throwing the best party :)

Oh, I SO wish I could've been there. It looks like such a fabulous time. I love everything about it -- especially the cake. Well done. Very well done. Now I must stalk the Flickr pool. Love it. Just love it.
CONGRATS!!!

Holy crap! Creampuff is stunning!!! The wife & wedding weren't no slouch, neither...
Congratulations, you crazy Canucks!
(If my woman and I ever manage to tie the knot, my papa will also be in a kilt... not because I want him to necessarily, but because that's the only formalwear he owns.)
Posted by: tec | December 14, 2007 at 10:27 AM
That looks like so much fun! And you both were stunning.
Posted by: syd | December 14, 2007 at 02:21 PM
Hey JenB ..
You guys were supposed to FREEZE the cake for us so it would keep while we were in Cancun. Not eat it :)
Great photos, though!
All flick photos are now working (thank you Zack from flickr) at http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/topiaryfest07/

That looks like such magnificent fun. If you decide at some point to renew your vows with another equally fun party, I'd love to be there. :-)
